Networking Opportunity: Midtown Opera Festival

Opera Memphis is hosting the Midtown Opera Festival April 3-13th.

This one-of-a-kind 10-day festival at Playhouse on the Square features chamber opera, panel discussions, fringe events, parties, and a world premiere in the heart of Memphis!

The Festival is anchored by three fully-staged operas: Mozart’s The Impresario paired with Richard Wargo’s The Music Shop, Menotti’s The Medium, and the world premiere of our original commissioned opera, Ghosts of Crosstown.

Networking Opportunity: Culinary Series @ Church Health Center

The Church Health Center is hosting a Culinary Series. They are hosting cooking classes with various local chefs. They look fun and reasonably priced.

Here is a list of classes:
April 3: Kick-off with Chef Jenn McCullough ($40): Chef Jenn will prepare some of her classic dishes.

April 10: Basic Knife Skills with Chef Melissa Peterson ($30): Shrimp stir fry and fruit display.

April 17: Fish Cookery ($40): Broiled fish with mango salsa, fish cooked in parchment and pan and seared scallops with sautéed greens.   Hungry yet? There’s more!

April 24: Basic Butchery with Chef Michael Patrick of Rizzo’s ($35): How to cut a whole chicken, herbed roasted rosemary chicken and caramelized onion and blue cheese stuffed pork chop.

May 1: A Mother’s Day to Remember with caterer Carrington Wise ($25): Mini spinach and quinoa quiche, creamy fruit salad, and chocolate surprise strawberries.

May 8: Vegetarian Dinner Party with Chef Gary Williams of Dejavu ($25): Butternut squash and barley risotto, spinach and cheese stuffed zucchini, grandma’s granola and peanut butter tofu mousse.

Networking Opportunitiy: Allen Hall Projects Gallary

Allen Hall Projects is presenting a duo show with painters Jada Thompson and Jeniffer Church at Gallery 363 on March 28 from 6:00 – 8:30.

Jeniffer Church is a Memphis native who was on staff of the David Lusk Gallery during its early days . After some time off to get her children in school, he has resumed painting, mainly with commissions recently. She has enjoyed painting since childhood. Her work in decorative as well as fine arts has expanded her technique as her new works illustrate.

A native of Mountain View, CA, Jada Thompson holds a BFA from William Carey College and an MFA from University of Memphis; Thompson is equally at home in the world of fine art and graphic design. Her works are as varied as her interests and influences and always represent a fresh viewpoint. In addition to pursuing her own artistic expression, Thompson has a gift for teaching others, from volunteering with kids at Ronald McDonald House to teaching her students at Mid-South Community College.
